The Bookkeeping Biz Workshops

I was so happy to run across The Ambitious Bookkeeper owned by Serena Shoup. It was a roundabout way that I happened to find her. As I was watching a YouTube video about some intriguing bookkeeping techniques, the speaker referenced Serena’s upcoming lesson series, “The Bookkeeping Biz Workshops”. I clicked on her link and thus began a new journey for me.

What made it so inspiring was the freedom to think outside the confines of traditional business models. Her leadership and teaching style resonated deeply within me.

I love to do bookkeeping. I love meeting with owners and helping them make sense of all the numbers. I love building relationships and encouraging those who are stretching their minds and beliefs.

Integrating personal interaction with the logic of books adds so much joy and purpose.

Life is a gift.

The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin

I am a logical bookkeeper that likes to bring order out of chaos. So why would I be interested in reading a music producer’s book about creativity? What does creativity have to do with a bookkeeping business? Because, I am on a wonderful path of discovery and am in tune to that fact that all things are actually interconnected.

I first heard Rick Rubin sharing about his thoughts on creativity on Dr. Andrew Huberman’s podcast (Huberman Lab: Rick Rubin: How to Access Your Creativity). Rick recently published his book, The Creative Act: A Way of Being and I was so captured by the conversation between Dr. Andrew Huberman and him that I rented the e-book from my local library. But after reading a couple chapters I decided that I want this physical book in my personal library. Thank you to The Painted Porch Book Shop in Bastrop TX.

The title of the first chapter uses words that are quite intriguing, “Everyone Is a Creator”. You see, I have said many times that although all my family members are creative, I simply am not. They each have several finished projects of beautiful artistry work that others would love to own. It is quite intriguing therefore to consider these words – Everyone Is a Creator.

I am now on that journey of belief.
